“for the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:14 (ESV)
If this is true, consider what has been written. It is as though someone has given you a map to get to a most wonderful destination. However unlike expeditions to the top of mountains or across the seven seas no amount of preparation, planning and packing of supplies are allowed. In order to head out on this journey, through this gate, you are to take nothing, take no food provisions, no backpack, no money. When you are shown this gateway and its path it is then you must leave. In haste, no goodbyes, no farewell parties, no waiting for a better moment. The gate is so narrow it allows only for the traveller and the clothes he is wearing. If you are directed to this narrow gate, this is how you shall enter; unprepared and lacking and the way demands so much more then you have strength for. Read carefully, few actually find this gate let alone travel its lonely path.
Why would anyone consider this gate? This is no ornamental gate in front of a mansion. This gate is the quiet entrance into a cemetery.
So be encouraged you traveler full of trepidation, for this journey will surely be the death of you but the destination is life.
