Jesus says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)
Born in Canada, of Irish catholic decent, lived in a blue collar pro-union home, went to church every Sunday and even became an altar boy for a time (loved ringin the bells). Lived in Canada’s north for several years. I can appreciate and detest the frozen north in a single thought.
As a young boy I was the inquisitive type. Always on a journey, a hike, taking something apart to see how it works. Exploring history and thinking of the future. I thought of God often and when I was alone my thoughts would go to Him. However there was an evil lurking beneath the surface and my searchings would often stumble upon things that a young explorer should steer away from.
…and I have seen among the simple, I have perceived among the youths,
a young man lacking sense, passing along the street near her corner…With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter. Proverbs 7:7-8,21 (ESV)
Years later…

I heard an Italian man read from the bible in front of a smokey room of teenagers. He spoke about Jesus. It was then that I believed and wanted to know Jesus.
I live in New Jersey now. Married with 2 kids. I see God in everything that I do and everything that happens. There is not a moment when I don’t see my own failings and His great mercy. I have rest and I am confident that he wants you to have it also.
